David Grenke
Founder and Artistic Director
David Grenke is a former principal dancer for the Paul Taylor Dance Company and is the founder of ThingsezIsee’m Dance/Theater, Inc, which serves as the non-profit umbrella for TICM, Stoopid Dance, and Dance Theater Works David Grenke.
He has also danced for Dennis Wayne’s Dancers and The Joffrey Concert Dancers, and he was a founding member of the Armitage Ballet. His choreography has been presented in New York at Lincoln Center, Dance Theatre Workshop’s Fresh Track Series, the Guggenheim Museum’s Works and Process Series, the Dia Center for the Arts, Pace University, and Riverside Church. Outside New York his works have been performed at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, The American Dance Festival, the Cannes International Festival, Kaatsbaan International Festival, and on tours of Russia, Poland, Denmark, Taiwan, and Argentina. Support for these tours has come from the U.S. Embassy, Trust for Mutual Understanding, and the Harkness Foundation. Most recent projects include collaborations with organizations based in Taiwan, Bogota, Columbia, as well as developmental residencies at the company home in Upstate New York.
Mr. Grenke is a recipient of ADF’s 1998 Doris Duke Award for new work, the 1997 Scripps/ADF Humphrey-Weidman-Limón Fellow for Choreography, and the Nora Kaye Award for dance. He participated in the American Dance Festival’s 1997 International Choreographers Commissioning Program, where he was in residence creating new work on ADF dancers.
In the area of dance education, David Grenke has been a professor at the University of California, Davis since 2003 and has served for eight years as department chair.

Stephanie NielsenCompany Member
Stephanie Nielsen is a multidisciplinary performer from Benicia, California. She began her dance training at age seven, and has since trained in ballet, color guard, and modern techniques. She continued her dance training at the University of California, Davis, where graduated with a B.A. in Theatre and Dance and a minor in Communications in June 2021. Throughout her education at UC Davis, Stephanie trained as an actor and singer under Mindy Cooper, Judy Blazer, Jeff Saver, Lisa Quoresimo, among others. She has also choreographed multiple original works under the supervision of David Grenke. She is currently based out of New York, New York. Stephanie joined the Stoopid Dance Company in Fall 2020 as one of its original company members.

Audrey MartelCompany Member
Audrey Martel is a multidisciplinary artist from Ventura Ca. She is a dancer and a painter, doing both fine art and large scale work for theater sets. Audrey graduated in June 2020 from UCDavis with a B.A. in Theater and Dance. There she trained in ballet, modern, contact improvisation, and dance composition; choreographing several works under the supervision of David Grenke with several of her pieces incorporating original sound designs. She also served as the UCD Theater department’s set painter and assisted with set design and general set construction for several years. Audrey joined the Stoopid Dance Company in Fall 2020 as one of its original members and has been continuing to incorporate her art practice interdisciplinarily with the company.
